Paddy Coman RIP:
The parish and GAA community of Moycarkey Borris are saddened by the death of Paddy Coman RIP. Our sincere sympathies to Jacinta, Stephen, Patrick, Tómas and all the extended family. In their playing careers the skilful and athletic Coman brothers were regulars on Moycarkey Borris teams at every age level and grade. Two of the Coman brothers Paddy and Joe played in the County Senior Hurling Final of 1962. Paddy played Senior Hurling on the Moycarkey Borris teams over three decades from the late 1950’s until the early 1970’s. His regular position in the Senior team was at wing forward but towards the end of his playing days he played in goal for the Junior team. After his playing days Paddy stayed involved in the club and in 1982 he was one of the selectors that guided Moycarkey Borris to the County and Munster Senior Hurling titles. As Paddy and Eileen raised a new family of hurlers and athletes on the farming homestead in Coldfields they also helped to organise, coach and mentor a new generation of juvenile GAA players, Community Games competitors and Athletes in the parish. They contributed generously to numerous Juvenile GAA, Community Games and Athletics successes through imbuing in their charges a ‘never say die’ spirit of wholehearted commitment and determination. Paddy like his neighbour and friend Jimmy Fogarty gave a lifetime of voluntary service not just to Moycarkey Borris GAA but also to Moycarkey Coolcroo Athletic Club. Ní bheidh a leithèid ann arís.
