Well done to James Danagher, Conor Donnelly, Richie Maher, Seanie Maher, Sean O'Dwyer and Niall O’Sullivan who were part of the victorious C.B.S. Thurles panel who won the Croke Cup today.
Croke Cup Final 2023 Thurles CBS 4-12 Nenagh CBS 0-5
On a wet and miserable day in Moneygall both teams showed great heart and determination. The conditions had a massive bearing on the result. Thurles cruised to a half time lead 4.9 to 0.1 with the the aid of the breeze. The breeze picked up during the game and the second half was extremely difficult to play in with the cold. Nenagh were the more dominant team in the second half with Thurles struggling to get the ball out of defence for prolonged periods, such was the strength of the wind. The Thurles boys dug deep and showed great resistance to hold the Nenagh boys to 4 points in the second half. Thurles won this famous cup for the 38 time, having won it every year since 2015 with the exception of 2018 when we lost out having split our panel into two even teams. Captain Sean Griffin from Upperchurch Drombane happily accepted the cup from Tom Maher of Tipperary GAA who does incredible work to keep all our GAA games going each year. On the day Euan Murray and Kieran Rossiter scored a goal each while Eoin Webb struck for two goals. There were great performances throughout the field. All attention now turns to the Munster A quarter final of the Corn Uí Dudda formerly known as the White Cup next week against St Colmans of Fermoy. Thanks to Mr Pierce Murphy for helping with First Aid as always and to John O’Loughlin for taking memorable photos for the boys to treasure long into the future.
