Just a quick one on today and the competition as a whole. We are disappointed but equally proud of our lads.
We went up to roscrea in the first round knowing we'd a good team but usure of the quality of oposition that awaited. A very good first half performance set us up for an impressive win.
Next up was neighbours and, I'm well informed, fierce rivals , Holycross in Holycross. Again an impressive first half set us up well. It ended in a nail biting finish and we prevailed on a scoreline of 7 points to 6.
Next up in the North section final was our old foes Newport. What can only be described as a sensational performance from players numbered 1 to 16 we won out by an impressive margin.
In the county final we overcame Ardfinnan by a large scoreline earning our deserved tag as county champions. This was a fantastic achievement by our lads.
Today we took part in the Munster part of the competition.
A very impressive first half performance set us up for a good win over Regional of Limerick. While it was nail-biting finish we were deserved winners.
The Munster final, to quote Brian Cody, 'took on a life of its own'. It ebbed and flowed from start to finish. Moycarkey being 4 points down with three minutes to go pulled level to deservedly draw and send the game to extra time.
We emptied the tank in extra time and unfortunately just came up short. From all 16 players the effort was faultless. The heart, determination and pride shown sets us in good stead for the road ahead.
From myself, PJ, Dermot, Donal and Liam we are immensely proud of them. No more could have been asked today. As I said to a good few of the lads after the game, if this group sticks together we will have many great days ahead.
Thanks very much to all. We will be back!
